Milwaukee’s M12 12V Copper Pipe Cutter has dominated for years. Now, the DeWalt Copper Pipe Cutter Attachment (DWACPRIR), part of their growing Impact Connect line of attachments, will turn your cordless impact driver into a copper-cutting machine that cuts 2X faster than the M12. Let’s see how they compare.
Capacity and Features
The DeWalt Impact Connect Copper Pipe Cutter slices 1/2″, 3/4″, and 1″ copper pipes (types K, L, M). You get 1/2″ and 3/4″ wheels—great for most plumbing—but the 1″ wheel must be purchased separately.
The system comes in multiple pieces: the base, cutter housing, and the individual cutting wheels. The housing rotates 360° to handle tight angles and you can cut pipe as close in to the wall as any manual wheel cutters I’ve seen.
DeWalt DWACPRIR vs. Milwaukee M12
The Milwaukee M12 cuts 3/8″ to 1″ pipe with an auto-adjusting cutter wheel. It’s an all-in-one tool. So it’s more compact, and also much quieter than using DeWalt’s cutter attachment on an impact driver.
Both cutters make equally clean cuts that need deburring for perfection but the DeWalt cuts twice as fast as the M12. Kinda.
To find your cut-line the M12 can slide back and forth and has a view window with a light to line things up. You can’t slide DeWalt’s attachment once it’s on the pipe so…
The M12 is much quieter to use. Basically, the DeWalt copper cutter is the same loudness as whatever impact driver you use it on.

Bottom Line
The DeWalt Copper Pipe Cutter attachment is faster, and cuts as clean, as the Milwaukee M12 pipe cutter. That said the Milwaukee M12 is still the better tool, in my opinion.
THAT said, DeWalt’s Impact Connect line of attachments is growing and having a bag of high quality, low cost, attachments may be preferable to owning the M12 stuff.
